Labor & Employment Law
The attorneys in our Labor & Employment Law Practice Group possess three decades of experience in the wide range of legal services that are required to manage the complex relationship between employers and employees. Representing private companies, government entities and municipalities, our attorneys routinely counsel clients on matters ranging from day-to-day counseling, complex litigation, human resources, grievance arbitration, collective bargaining, workplace safety and health issues.
With one of the most experienced labor and employment practices in the region, our attorneys have extensive knowledge in all areas of labor law and employer/employee relations. Clients range from large corporations and universities to small retailers and service firms—public, private, union and non-union employers. We frequently advise clients, both business and individuals, regarding all aspects of the employer/employee relationship including job posting, interviewing, training, job performance reviews, promotion, termination, and post-termination dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration. Our attorneys are also equipped to handle matters relating to sexual harassment and employment discrimination, including advising clients on preventive practices.
A complex array of State and Federal rules exposes employers to a wide range of risks and liabilities. Although our goal is to promote compliance and prevent disputes, we also represent employers and employees in litigation when it becomes necessary. Our Employment Law team routinely provides assistance to clients in compliance with all Federal and State employment-related laws including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other employment-related statutes.
Our attorneys provide clients with a comprehensive array of employment documentation assistance including employment contracts, counseling and statutory compliance, policies and training methods, handbook creation and modification, employee benefit plan strategies, human resources management and the full complement of litigation services in courtrooms and before administrative agencies.
