Actor Dennis Quaid has officially filed for divorce from his third wife, Kimberly Buffington-Quaid. The divorce filing came six weeks after Kimberly filed for legal separation from the actor. She originally filed for divorce in March of 2012, but later withdrew the request. Quaid is seeking joint custody of the couple's twins and is offering to pay Kimberly spousal support. In addition to his other ex-wife, Quaid was previously married to actress Meg Ryan. Quaid and Ryan were divorced in 2001, and have one son, Jack Quaid, of the "Hunger Games" fame.
The famous actor's third divorce involves many of the same issues couples in Massachusetts face in a divorce. An experienced Central Massachusetts family law attorney can assist you with these issues, no matter how complicated. Property division, child custody, visitation and alimony are all commonly contested areas in family law. Many cases also involve issues related to domestic partnerships and grandparent visitation rights. It's also often advisable to revise estate plans once a divorce has been finalized.
Child support is an issue in virtually every divorce that involves children. Whether you need assistance enforcing a child support order or getting a post-judgment modification of an order due to a change in circumstances, a Westborough family law attorney will work with you to obtain the most optimal outcome for your situation.
No divorce is the same, and every case has unique issues. However, it is important for you to have a clear understanding of your legal rights and responsibilities both during and after a divorce.
