Howard Novick comes to Seder & Chandler with over 20 years of experience as an in-house counsel for companies in a variety of industries, including software and healthcare. He served as Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs of Fast Search & Transfer ("FAST"), a publicly traded, enterprise search software company that grew during his tenure from 180 to 850 employees and from $40 million to $160 million in worldwide annual revenues, culminating in its being acquired by Microsoft in April of 2008. He then stayed on with Microsoft until August of 2009, advising with respect to the integration of FAST into the larger organization

Mr. Novick’s expertise lies in the drafting and negotiation of contracts related to the development, licensing and distribution of computer software and the provision of software-related services. These include End-user License Agreements, OEM Agreements, Reseller Agreements, Hosting Agreements and Professional Services Agreements, among others.

Working for FAST and Microsoft gave Mr. Novick exposure to the business and legal issues that arise from introducing cutting edge technologies into the market place. He remains interested in such issues as they relate not only to software, but also to social networking and cloud computing and welcomes the opportunity to meet with prospective clients in all fields of endeavor.
